Community Pure Water has demonstrated the success of our economically sustainable IOM model, keeping our 230+ centers continuously in operation for over a decade.

We create long-term partnerships with communities to Install (I), Operate(O) and Maintain (M) local water purification centers.

The demonstrated success of the IOM model has attracted sponsors and alliances to grow to the 230+ centers we operate and serve over 625,000 people.

Our IOM Model enables successful replication to new regions. Our 230+ centers are concentrated in Telangana and Andhra, plus several in Uttar Pradesh. Our target for 2021/2022 is 100 new centers in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana.

Our commitment to keeping capital costs low means that for an average of five dollars per person we can install one water filtration center and start giving people safe water for life. For maximum impact, we work with villages with a minimum of 500 families and sources of raw water in need of purification.

Through our community partnerships, communities provide raw water, electrical connection, and structures to house the water filtration center, and we install and commission centers, train local operators and arrange for regional technicians to support ongoing operation and maintenance.

Most filtration systems fail without ongoing outside funding. We make every water filtration center economically self-sustaining. As part of the ten-year agreements arranged with each community, we hire and train a local villager to operate the plant. A price of less than 35 paise or less half a cent per liter covers the center’s operation and maintenance costs, as well as the salaries of the local operator and regional technicians.

Safe water is available 24/7 with our ATW (Any Time Water) service.

Our expert regional technical staff monitors the plant function and water quality every day and performs scheduled and break-fix maintenance. With our robust network of equipment warehouses and qualified regional technicians, most repairs and replacements can be made within 24 hours. Our 24/7 call-center ensures each water filtration center can access support to remain fully operational.

Each regional technician is from the area and is responsible for 10 to 15 filtration centers within a two-hour distance.

0 days downtime: With our 24/7 customer support, we fix most repairs within 24 hours, so the water is always on.

0 days of no supply: We have backup water storage that meets requirements beyond 48 hours, so the water is always on.

The Beginning: Water

Many water sources in rural India are contaminated: surface water by waste and pollution, and groundwater by arsenic, iron, and fluoride. We work with communities to treat and purify local water sources.

Five-Stage Filtration

The five-stage filtration process uses  a sand filter, activated charcoal filter, micron filter, reverse osmosis membranes, and finally ultraviolet disinfection. This system removes over 99% of major contaminants.

The Output: Quality

Our filtration systems process 500 to 2000 liters of water per hour, producing water with fewer than 100 Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) per liter, better than the international standard.

CENTERS SUPPORT CENTERS

When villagers pay an affordable cost for water, they support plant maintenance and the salaries of the local operator and regional engineers.

If any plant makes more than it needs, the money goes to plants that aren’t making as much, so no one is left behind.

The more centers we build, the more they support each other.
